"X-Ray Glasses" By Eric Colville Band (Rock Artist from Boston, Massachusetts(MA))

With "X-Ray Glasses," Eric Colville Band nicely fuses the spirit of the contemporary singer/songwriter with many complimentary genres - traditional adult rock, rockabilly, and Americana. Vocally, the weathered huskiness in Colville's voice remind the listener of Jakob Dylan of Wallflowers fame, although at times you can hear influences of Jack Johnson, John Mayer, and even Tom Petty. Colville stands out as a lyrical force, with no limits to their subject matter. From the playful material of the title track to the solace-driven "Man I Am" and "Remember To Forget," a lasting impression is left. Whether you're listening to the mellow, acoustic "DMMLY" or the rocking guitar solo in the rockabilly-influenced "12 Step Program," the album is well-recorded with no noticeable missteps. "Man I Am" delivers lyrically and musically as the band lays down a beat that makes you want to move while Colville discusses his ambivalence with the angel and demon on his shoulder - "I'm stuck in the middle, mister, can't you see, between the man I am and the one that I'm supposed to be." The closing track, "Doer's Lament," offers a fast-paced, Americana feel with a choir singing the memorable chorus - "Everybody's gonna do everything, but nobody ever does anything." Overall, "X-Ray Eyes" is a winner and anyone who enjoys adult rock and contemporary singer/songwriters should give it a listen.

“Pluto’s Melancholy…Music From a Dismissed Planet – Volume 1” by The Lily Pond Orchestra (World Artist from Massachusetts(MA))

"Pluto's Melancholy…Music From a Dismissed Planet – Volume 1" is an ambient new age instrumental EP from The Lily Pond Orchestra. The Lily Pond Orchestra is comprised of one man, Douglas J.P. Lee, who is the mind behind every aspect related to the making of this album. The album title should suggest a concept, and Lee embraces and well-achieves this concept by creating an interpretation of what Plutonian music sounds like. The result is a thoroughly haunting, drifting, meditative, contemplative, and peaceful ambient sound. Through the mediums of synthesizer and keyboard, Lee paints a picture that truly shows what it means to be a digital musical artist. The recording quality is also very good and succeeds in allowing the listener to drift off as carelessly and as happily as possible. "Of Myth and Mystery" has a very new age-y feel as Lee turns up the synthesizers for our listening pleasure and makes you feel as though you are drifting between stars. With "Silver Wind," Lee uses the synths to create a howling, fire engine-like wind that hovers and makes you wonder how Pluto got such a strong atmosphere. "Pluto's Melancholy…Music From a Dismissed Planet – Volume 1" is a unique, creative, and imaginative album that truly embraces music as an art form. If you enjoy ambient new age and electronic music and miss Pluto being the ninth planet of our solar system, check out The Lily Pond Orchestra.

RadioIndy is pleased to present  Lee Villeneuve with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Lee Vee Live – One Night"

"Lee Vee Live – One Night" by Lee Villeneuve is a folk-pop breadth of fresh air. Lee and her talented backing band have produced an enjoyable, expressive, original work. The recording nicely captures the live vibe on the CD with a clear recording that lets the fine acoustic instrumentation shine through and provides the listener a real-life experience. The energy in Lee's music provides an excellent live performance. Lee's vocals have excellent emotion and energy. Each track has its own distinctive style and tenor, keeping the CD interesting throughout. "Inspire Me" has energy and gives that feeling of sensuality that brings this CD together. The upbeat energy and proclamation of feminine strength and individuality in "It's a Girl Thing" is refreshing and enjoyable. This is a strong sensitive and well thought out CD. If you are a lover of folk-pop, this will make a great addition to your collection.
