“On The Wings Of A Dragonfly” by The Lily Pond Orchestra (Classical Artist from Massachusetts(MA))

"On The Wings Of A Dragonfly" is an upbeat ambient new age concept album from The Lily Pond Orchestra. Douglas JP Lee is the orchestrator of The Lily Pond Orchestra, composing and creating all of the instrumental sounds you hear on the album. Lee has a way with formulating a broad concept for an entire album and sticking with it throughout. "On The Wings Of A Dragonfly" is no different as Lee embraces the outdoors and nature with an ode to the emergence of springtime in New England. The result is an upbeat, peaceful, and meditative sound that fully embraces and captures the essence of nature. The album is well-produced and sounds excellent. "Mossy Green and Turquoise" has some great keyboard work that creates a soundtrack to the sprouting of life and if you close your eyes you'll visualize these colors. "Mourning Cloak" is about the subject of inspiration for the entire album, the flapping of a butterfly's wings as it floats slowly away. "On The Wings Of A Dragonfly" is aptly titled, as it makes the listener feel as though they are floating through the springtime. Fans of ambient new age, be sure to pick this one up.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Robin Lee Field with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Northeast Girl"

"Northeast Girl" is a smooth blend of Country, Blues and Folk brought to you by Singer/Songwriter Robin Lee Field. Robin's voice is well seasoned and has a booming, powerful quality behind a graceful delivery. The lyrics are very real-world and based on reflections of life, love and emotional intricacies. "The Voice" is the instrument at the forefront of the sound. The arrangements behind are subtly driving and delicately accentual, with a good instrument variation. The production quality is very good and the musicianship is quite good. Highlights include the title track "Northeast Girl," a touching story about the artist's love for Boston. "How About Some Sweet Love" features an intimate vocal performance and a nice melodic guitar progression. "1975" has another nice guitar progression and a lovely story, reflective of earlier years. If you enjoy female singer-songwriters and relevant, real-world, and emotional lyrics, give this CD a try.

“RSG-1” by Random Song Generator (Rock Artist from Boston, Massachusetts(MA))

"RSG-1" is the eclectic and truly original do-it-yourself debut from Random Song Generator. Random Song Generator is Neil Santos, a multi-instrumentalist that has his head around a variety of musical styles and proves it by playing all of the instruments on the album himself. The arrangements are solid and bass heavy, ranging in genre from hip-hop to pop to funk to techno to metal to folk to stoner rock. By sampling all of these genres, Santos goes against the grain and embraces every genre he finds aurally pleasing instead of limiting himself musically. The result is a mixtape of musical diversity, a Random Song Generator, which is entirely enjoyable and musically impressive. His vocals change with the genre, such as quicker deliveries similar to Beck during the "Mellow Gold" and "Odelay" days, rock ballads similar to Ryan Adams, and the distorted rock somewhere between Blur and Foo Fighters. "RSG-1" is well-produced; raw when it sounds better raw, clean when it sounds better clean, and bringing fully to life this incredibly imaginative album. "Just In Love" has a heavy rock sound with a catchy guitar line and backing bass, hip-hop deliveries on the verses and rock vocals on the chorus. "Addicted to Funk" is an impressive funk track with its splashy bass line, good use of synthesizers, and a group vocal on the chorus: "We're addicted to funk/ And we're looking to party, yeah!" With "RSG-1," Neil Santos has really put something interesting together by audibly displaying his knowledge of a variety of genres and laying down the foundation for many "RSG" releases to come. Eclectic music fans in need of a new mixtape should definitely look into Random Song Generator.

"Never Cancel the Stage!" by Two Ton Shoe (Hard Rock Artist from Boston, Massachusetts(MA))

RadioIndy is pleased to present Two Ton Shoe with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Never Cancel the Stage!"

"Never Cancel the Stage!" by Two Ton Shoe is a funk rock album with elements of dance and club brought to you by a talented group of musicians. The first thing you notice about these guys is that they have a sound that is truly their own. You get wicked bass, precise and creative drumming, slinky guitar, and party-minded vocals and lyrics that create a sound not dissimilar from Jamiroquai. There are a great deal of twists and turns in these songs, ranging from soulful, acoustic love songs to funky dance music that won't let you sit still. The arrangements are all solid, with great care taken in making the sound full and really creating a musical experience. The recording quality is excellent – the louder the speakers, the better. Highlights include "Move in the Light," a bumper and a shaker with a driving beat and nice vocal harmony. "Free" features some tricky guitar work, nice accents, and a soulful vocal performance. "Space Bugs (Gilmania Remix)" closes things out with a funked out bass line and a serious groove that makes you want to move. Overall, "Never Cancel The Stage!" is a good, fun album with outstanding musicianship. If you enjoy funk rock and need a new album to groove to, pick up this one.

"Heart of Matter" by Michael O'Connell (Electronic Artist from Massachusetts(MA))

RadioIndy is pleased to present Michael O'Connell with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Heart of Matter"

"Heart of Matter" by Michael O'Connell is a dreamy Electronica album that features dynamic grooves and lush textures. The songs are all very unpredictable and feature very emotion-conscious arrangements. There is a nice mix of organic and synthetic instruments. The album is well mixed and flows nicely from track to track. The vibe is mellow and will relax you while it stimulates your mind. Highlights include the opener "Liquid Clouds Suite," which sets the table nicely with big ambient synths that transition into a fluid and intelligent sequence. "Red Horizon" showcases a few more organic instruments (including electric guitar), and has a soft, but driving beat. "Dark Moon Transit" opens with a wicked beat and wraps the album up well with a great sense of closure. If you enjoy nicely flowing Electronica music, check out this CD.
